With the organic beauty sector on the rise, London will host the first-ever international Clean Beauty show at The Brewery event space in the city’s Barbican district.
The two-day tradeshow will be held October 12th and 13th, 2020, will gather experts and brands of the clean and organic beauty sector and feature facial skincare, bodycare, haircare, and makeup brands that work with sustainably sourced, vegan, cruelty-free, and non-toxic ingredients. In addition, conferences and workshops will be staged with the aim to educate both visitors and suppliers on the latest innovations in the sector.
“The show will help to clearly define what Clean Beauty means to a company, the ingredients and materials to use, the ones to avoid and why,” explained Sandra Maguarian, director of the new Clean Beauty tradeshow, in an official statement released by the company. Clean Beauty is part of Beauteam, a division of Infopro Digital group — an organization that stages international beauty tradeshows such as Luxe Pack and MakeUp In.
Clean beauty is shaping up to be a promising business opportunity: French trend-forecasters and data advisories like the NPD Group, revealed in a recent report that the clean beauty sector grew 42% 2018 versus 2017.
Another report by Disko Agency stated that seven millennials out of 10 are ready to spend more on ethical beauty products, and 73% will spend more on transparently sourced products. Finally, according to Mintel, 57% of shoppers would buy or boycott a brand depending on their ethical values.
Diehard clean beauty aficionados, however, remain skeptical. According to GOOP, the American natural health company owned by actress Gwyneth Paltrow, the personal care industry has yet to be effectively regulated on an international level. The last piece of regulation was passed in 1938, which means that skincare and makeup companies are mostly free to do whatever they want, with no or little government oversight, packing products with toxic ingredients, including known carcinogens and endocrine disruptors.
